In August 2026, Cirrus Design Studio was awarded Expert Developer certification by Wix Studio — the platform’s highest standard of expert-level proficiency in web development. It sits alongside our existing Wix Premier Partner status, our Google Partner accreditation and our ICO registration.

Why a bespoke agency bothered with a platform certification

It is a fair question. Cirrus has built its reputation on hand-coded, fully bespoke websites and business systems — no templates, no plugin dependency, no platform lock-in. So why certify on someone else’s platform at all?

Because the honest answer to “what should we build this on?” is not always the same answer. A business selling three products with a simple brochure site does not need a bespoke build, and we have never pretended otherwise. What matters is that the recommendation is made by someone who can actually build either one, rather than by someone selling the only thing they know how to make.

Being certified at expert level in both disciplines is what makes that advice worth having. We can hand-code your system from scratch, build you something genuinely custom on Wix Studio, or — increasingly — combine the two.

Which brings us to Wix Headless

Wix Headless is the part of the platform most business owners have never heard of, and it quietly closes the oldest trade-off in web development.

Traditionally you picked one of two compromises. A bespoke build gave you total design and functional freedom, but every project meant rebuilding the same routine machinery from scratch — logins, checkout, bookings, payment handling. A platform build gave you that machinery out of the box, but you designed within the platform’s limits and inherited its look.

Headless removes the choice. We hand-build the front end with no template and no platform styling constraints, exactly as we would a bespoke site. Behind it, content, e-commerce, bookings, memberships and payments are drawn from Wix through its APIs. The visitor sees a site designed entirely around your brand. Your team manages it through a dashboard they already understand.

What that means in practice

• Design freedom without the rebuild. Budget goes into the parts of your site that actually make you money, rather than into reinventing a checkout flow that thousands of businesses already use successfully.
• Your team updates your own content. Nothing routine needs a developer, and nothing your team changes can break the design.
• Enterprise infrastructure without server administration. Global CDN, auto-scaling, DDoS protection, SSL and 99.99% uptime, SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA compliant — maintained by Wix rather than billed to you as a hosting problem.
• One backend instead of five subscriptions. Content, e-commerce, bookings, events, memberships and payments run through a single business manager, rather than a stack of plugins stitched together and hoped for the best.
• No plugin debt. The front end is code we wrote and understand. There is no library of third-party add-ons quietly ageing into next year’s security incident.

When we will not recommend it

Certification cuts both ways. Knowing a tool properly also means knowing when it is the wrong one, and we would rather say so at the quote stage than eighteen months in.

If your site is largely brochure content, Headless is over-engineering. A standard Wix Studio build will cost less, launch sooner and serve you perfectly well. We will tell you that.

If your operation depends on deeply bespoke internal logic — geo-located site inspections, automated compliance certificates, resource scheduling that no platform models correctly — then our own hand-coded systems remain the better answer. You get complete control, no per-seat licensing and no platform dependency at all.

Headless earns its place in the middle: when you need a distinctive front end and real business functionality behind it, and you want your own team running content day to day.

What this means if you are already a client

Nothing changes about how we work, and nothing about your existing site or system is affected. What it adds is another properly understood option on the table when you next come to us with a project — and rather more confidence that when we recommend an approach, it is because it suits your business rather than because it is the only thing in our toolbox.
